The Embedded Electronics and Computing Systems EECS research group of University of Trento belongs to the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science (DISI).
DISI is a research-led institute employing more than 40 professors, 30 researchers, 90 doctorate students and a number of post-doctoral and visiting researches. Within DISI, the research activity of the EECS group focuses on:
(i) Energy Harvesting.
(ii) portable devices for Ambient Intelligence applications,
(iii) Hardware-software design of digital architectures for low-power data processing and transmission,
(iv) Wireless Sensor Networks,
In particular EECS lab has an established competence in the design and deployment of distributed embedded and mobile systems, with emphasis on WSNs and their
application in natural user interfaces, augmented reality and smart environments. The main expertise is in the hardware/software design and implementation of WSN prototypes. Furthermore, the group has multi-year experience in energy-aware design, energy saving MAC protocols, energy scavenging and power management.
The group has a staff of more than 10 full-time researchers, and it is involved in the EU-funded Network of Excellence on Embedded Systems Design
(ICT-ARTISTDesign) and in a number of industrial cooperation (STMicroelectronics,Telecom Italia and others).
